Product Innovation

Product innovation can be divided into two categories of innovation: development of new products and improvement of existing products, unlike technology innovation which often comprises more significant technological changes to products and processes.

Product innovation can often take the shape of a design change, as added functionality in an existing product or in the use of a new material. Product innovation is often connected with changes that arrive quickly within an already established market, while technology innovation may involve a greater change of consumer habits and may necessitate further product development of products utilizing the new technology.
